Travel

Who doesn't love the romance of long trips to far away countries?  Unfortunately these trips aren't always possible.  There's only so many hours in the day, vacations days in the year, and dollars in the bank.  That doesn't mean that you have to be stick in a cubicle or glued to the couch forever and ever.  There are many ways to get away without traveling hundreds of miles.

I don't know when it started but ever since I can remember, I've wanted to go to far away places and see experience different things.  When I was applying to college, I only went after schools that would allow me to study abroad.  I spent my junior year of undergrad abroad studying in England and visiting wherever I could afford to go.  Ever since then I've been plagued by travel bug flair ups every few months.

With less than two one year to go on my Ph.D. in biochemistry and biophysics, vacation time is not something I have a lot of.  Likewise, expendable income is not something I have stored in the bank.  So while I'm saving for my next big trip I'm taking advantage of local tourism options to satisfy the explorer in me.  Follow along on my  weekend sanity excursions and pre-trip planning process as well as recounting some of my previous travel experiences.
